but at the same time I'm so grateful that it does. I have face planted on the whole idea of blogging consistently, mainly because it quickly moved to the bottom of "the list". I'm going to try and catch you up to speed on the last month and a half and then move on from there like nothing ever happened, or didn't happen in this case.
September was super dirty! There was trenching to direct the water toward the lake. Dirt work. And more dirt work. We were so happy to get the ground around the building leveled and ready to plant grass. Right before a nice two-day rain came we got the grass seed planted and mostly covered with straw. The solid mahogany front door was stained by yours truly and installed by Steve and Robby. Also in September was a work trip for Steve, a few football games and many brides came to tour.
October was outrageously nuts. On October 17th we hosted our area Chamber of Commerce After-Hours here. So from October 1-16 we were busy! We put in a working bathroom, swept aaaall the floors, put deck boards on the dock, finished up the plumbing, installed temporary stair railing, hung string lights, and cleaned. The event was a success and we were happy to see so many area business people come out. Their encouraging comments were great to hear!
From the later part of October up to today we have been working on siding and adding the finishing-touch, top windows to the south end. The white, wood siding makes the building look so finished. We know we have quite a ways to go to the finish line but it sure is nice to see things coming together. Just today we had a young couple here from out of state to tour the building and they commented on how well the construction is coming along. They both said that it shows how much of our heart and soul we're putting in to this project. Those young people sure made me smile! We've booked two other weddings just this week. I am serious when I say that EACH couple has such unique ideas, hopes and dreams for the wedding day and it never gets old seeing that glistening excitement in their eyes.
Speaking of unique, people are starting to catch on that Emerson Fields isn't going to be just a venue. It is going to let individual personalities shine through each life event that happens here. It's a gathering place unlike any other because you can make it you.
