Fall Wedding Inspiration, Outdoor Ceremonies + Backup Plans in Missouri

Are you in love with Fall? Pumpkin spice everything. Cozy blankets, crisp mornings and gorgeous Fall hues? Us too. I mean, if you live in the Midwest, Fall can be one of the most breathtaking times of the year! [usually]

Not to be a Debbie Downer, but when it comes to weather and outdoor scenery, you get what you get. Here in central Missouri it’s important to have a backup plan for any season that you might be dreaming of an outdoor wedding ceremony. October can be lovely but it can be cold, rainy and full of snow flurries too. It is our goal to provide a variety of spaces for you to consider for your outdoor wedding ceremony, as well as provide a solid indoor backup plan in case of inclement weather. There just aren’t any guarantees - anywhere.

We offer three outdoor ceremony spaces (open field, pavilion, dock) and a gorgeous indoor ceremony option - all for one rental price!

The Ideal Fall Day:

If you’re blessed with the ideal Fall day, as the Connolly’s were, you could have your choice of any of the three outdoor ceremony spaces. Sadie and Justin chose to be married on our dock overlooking the lake and it was perfect in early October. Sadie’s father grew pumpkins to decorate with and for each guest to take home. The aisle was adorned with lanterns, pops of deep burgundy blooms and those adorable homegrown white pumpkins. “IN Any Event” of Ashland did an amazing job layering candlelight, sprawling greenery and just the right touch of coziness to the whole day!

The Perfect Wedding Party:

These two chose a phenomenal wedding party and that makes any wedding day a success; there’s no drama, no fuss, all fun and every tear is a happy one. In any season, you should be enamored with the people who will stand beside you on your best day.

I was blown away by the attentiveness of the venue staff, how many little details they had in place to make things perfect, and the elegance of all parts of this space. Highly recommend for anyone looking for a stress-free and beautiful wedding day! Steve and Amelia are wonderful and made my best friend’s dreams come true, as well as my job as a MOH much easier!

The Perfect Reception:

Sadie’s family decorated for a fabulous, heartwarming celebration for her and Justin. The venue never looked better and everyone had a hilariously, good time. The drinks flowed, the dancing lasted all night and the cake was a smash! These two seriously are blessed with the best village and they know how to throw a great party.

Amelia is THE best! So easy to work with and made the wedding planning experience a breeze. Every vendor recommendation she gave us we used, and we definitely don’t regret it! She made my wedding a dream come true and a day that my friends and family will never forget.

A Few Tips for Fall Weddings:

  1. Fall does not have to mean jewel tones and outdoor ceremonies. You do you. We love a gorgeous outdoor ceremony but this Fall we had a bride who didn’t care for the outdoors and one that had always dreamed of an outdoor ceremony. The first bride had an intimate indoor ceremony with traditional seating and the second bride had her wedding in the field and offered blankets and throws to the guests since the temperature was just under 60 degrees. Both were so pretty. Both brides are happily married. And both brides felt the freedom to make their wedding day what THEY wanted.

  2. Fall is still unpredictable. Even though the calendar says it’s almost Thanksgiving, the temperatures today were near 70. The couple that was married here earlier this month had their wedding ceremony inside due to very cold temperatures. ALWAYS have a back up plan. {We’ve got one.}

  3. Fall seems to pair well with a more rustic theme where there are wood elements, deep, rich color, warm candlelight, and autumn foliage. Our venue plays well with any theme, especially Fall.

**And if someone doesn’t choose Laura Rowe Photography to come here again I’m going to lose my mind. She’s so genuine, not fussy, doesn’t over-edit and ALWAYS delivers beautiful, perfectly exposed images. Don’t gamble with your wedding day photographer. You will never regret having perfect wedding portraits… ever!
