Weekday Wedding Reception Inspiration at Emerson Fields

McKenna & Kolin’s Summer Wedding Reception at our Central Missouri Wedding Venue

Planning a wedding is always a balancing act, but for McKenna and Kolin, it was more like a juggling act while balancing on a tightrope. In the eight months leading up to their wedding, they were finishing school, starting new jobs, and moving to a new state. With so many big life changes happening at once, they needed a wedding venue that could give them peace of mind and help them customize the entire day.

That search led them to Emerson Fields, a private Missouri wedding estate where modern design meets vintage-inspired charm. Known for its five ceremony sites, wide-open reception hall, on-site lodging, and signature semi-inclusive Vendor Bundle Package, Emerson Fields is a place where weddings are both elegant and effortless.

McKenna & Kolin’s Catholic ceremony was held at St. Pius X in Moberly, followed by a romantic Friday reception at Emerson Fields, where the atmosphere felt intimate, joyful, and completely personal to them. McKenna even took on the florals herself with the help of Flower Moxie. She and her bridesmaids spent the day before the wedding arranging blooms together at Emerson Suites. It was a sweet, memory-making project that added such a heartfelt, personal touch to the celebration.

As part of our wedding management team at Emerson Fields, Katie, had the privilege of coordinating McKenna and Kolin’s day and truly, they were a dream to work with. Every single person in their family was gracious, kind, and joy-filled. It’s the kind of wedding you don’t forget, not just because of how beautiful it looked, but because of how it felt.

Why Emerson Fields Stood Out

McKenna first heard about Emerson Fields through her cousin, a Mizzou student who passed the venue often on drives back to campus. At first, the couple wondered if it might be out of reach budget-wise, but after touring, they quickly realized what set our wedding estate apart.

For them, it wasn’t just about finding a building or a space. It was about the ease of planning, the private estate feel, and the peace of mind that came with the Vendor Bundle Package.

That semi-inclusive wedding package ended up being the deciding factor. With one decision, McKenna and Kolin checked off some of the most important vendors. DJ, bar service, fine linens, and a trusted wedding management team that guided them every step of the way. The bridal party opted to stay onsite at the lodging, Emerson Suites, on the estate property. It sleeps 14 guests, making it the perfect setup.

McKenna later summed it up in her post-wedding survey:

“The Vendor Package was a lifesaver, and it was exactly what we were looking for aesthetically and location-wise.”

A Weekday Wedding with Extra Time to Celebrate

Instead of a Saturday, McKenna and Kolin chose a Friday wedding, which gave them more flexibility with date availability and budget. By renting the estate Thursday through Friday, they had plenty of time for rehearsal, decorating, and simply being present with family before the big day.

That extra breathing room meant less rushing and more connection. Guests described the atmosphere as relaxed, intimate, and fun, exactly the kind of environment McKenna and Kolin hoped for.

Timeless Style Meets Personal Touches

McKenna envisioned a wedding that was romantic, garden-inspired, and timeless, not trendy or overdone. She leaned toward elegant but understated details that elevated the day without feeling showy. The bride wanted to try DIY-ing her bouquets, so she leaned on the expertise of Flower Moxie, an online small business that guides you step-by-step into the wedding day flowers of your dreams.

“I was able to Zoom with a florist from Flower Moxie who listened to the look I was going for and the amount of florals I needed. We picked out all of the florals and greenery together, and then Flower Moxie sent me "recipes" for each bouquet and step-by-step instructions on how to care for the flowers from the time they arrived at my door up until wedding day.” shared, McKenna.

McKenna even shared her process with us, so we had to dish- “I had bridesmaids come help process them and soak them in water overnight. The next day I had a little "bouquet party" at my house where each bridesmaid was given the flowers, and they made their own bouquets, while my mom and family worked on bud vases and centerpieces. It was definitely a lot more work, but once we figured it out, it wasn't too bad at all. We ended up paying around $1,200 for my bouquet, eight bridesmaid bouquets, four centerpieces, one hundred bud vases, ten boutonnieres, all greenery, and even had some extra arrangements we placed around the venue. I'd do it again in a heartbeat!”

The reception space came to life with their floral accents, rented vintage china, and sophisticated table settings that instantly transformed the guest experience. In a TikTok recap, McKenna shared how much those details mattered:

“Having nice table settings really elevated the look of our reception, and then guests had nice plates, silverware, and napkins to use during dinner. It elevated the dinner experience for them, too.”

By blending Emerson Fields’ clean, modern design with vintage-inspired décor, the couple struck the perfect balance of modern-meets-heritage. The result was a wedding that felt effortlessly classic in a summer garden party type of way.

Wedding Management That Made the Difference

One of the most consistent themes in McKenna’s feedback was how much the Emerson Fields team did behind the scenes.

She shared on TikTok:

“Hiring a coordinator changed the feel of my entire wedding. She took care of everything behind the scenes, which meant we didn’t have to worry about the logistics—we just got to enjoy the day.”

As part of the semi-inclusive Vendor Bundle Package, McKenna and Kolin worked with our lead coordinator, Katie, who walked alongside them through the planning process and on the wedding day. From creating the timeline to managing vendors to quietly handling last-minute details, Katie and her assistants kept the flow effortless.

“They were an absolute dream to work with. Every single person in their family was so gracious and joy-filled. It was the kind of wedding that reminds you why we do what we do.”
—Katie, Emerson Fields Coordinator

Behind the scenes, our team was making sure chairs were set, tables were styled, and every cue happened right on time, so that McKenna, Kolin, and their families could stay fully present in the moment.

Her parents noticed the difference, too. Her dad called the day “exceptional”, while her mom said the Vendor Package and on-site lodging made everything seamless. Her stepmom added that it was the little things, like the EF team handling setup and logistics, that made spending the extra money so worth it.

A Celebration Guests Still Talk About

At the end of the night, it was the reception that left the biggest impression. Guests filled the dance floor from the first song to the very last. So much so that it felt like no one ever wanted to leave. Their DJ, included in the Vendor Bundle, did more than just play music. He kept the flow of the evening smooth, emceed with energy, and made sure every moment transitioned seamlessly into the next.

“I knew from the very first dance that this was going to be one of those nights where the floor stayed full. Their friends and family were ready to celebrate, and the DJ kept the energy high all night long.”

A love letter from the couple six months after their wedding…

I know every couple says this, but it truly was the best day of our lives! We were so busy at that point in our lives, but Emerson Fields took so much off of our plates during both the planning process and the wedding day itself. That allowed for us and our families to not worry about the little things, and to be present throughout the whole day. It felt so seamless, and that is thanks to you all and all of your hard work, along with the talented vendors you helped us find. There was not a single thing I would have changed about the day, and it truly was the perfect day.
