Classic Modern Wedding | Open Venue Experience at Emerson Fields

At Emerson Fields Wedding Venue, we host our own interactive “open house” style event up to twice a year. This is one of our favorite events of the year because we welcome all of our booked couples, any newly engaged couples, or those curious about wedding planning to Emerson Fields. Our heart and soul are poured into styling the venue with the latest wedding trends and setting it up like a real wedding day. We want our attendees to get that true Emerson Fields wedding experience and be inspired. We invite a curated list of top-tier wedding vendors to showcase their work with specialty food tastings, cocktail samples, floral design, signature reception table décor, and a unique wedding ceremony area.

Our “Modern Classic Wedding” Open Venue Experience was a crowd favorite! A quintessential black, white, and gold color palette created that modern edge we love. We accented the overall ambiance with classic elements like pearls, brass candlesticks, glamourous hair and makeup on our model bride, and an abundance of fresh greenery in the floral arrangements.

Inspiration! Couples may come across that special touch they were looking for such as a specific dessert, layout/set-up, type of flower they’ve been thinking of, or filling in the final touches on their vendor team

These Open Venue Experiences at Emerson Fields are unlike any traditional bridal expo or venue open house. These events are hands-on - to touch, taste, explore, and experience first-hand. We select a team of vendors to create a specifically styled wedding day, like this Classic Modern wedding look. The vendor team collaborates with us on all of the details like cutlery style, bridal veil design, and head table placement so that we can give engaged couples inspirational new ideas!

Pictured above is our modern take on the king’s table which is a fabulous choice if you want an intimate dining experience for your wedding party or immediate family. The king’s table draws the eye to the center of the room and creating more elaborate table decor elevates the experience, making you feel like the “queen or king" of your wedding day. We also like that the king’s table allows plenty of space to walk around the center of the room and plenty of space for a large dance floor near the stage.

For couples, this day is such a treat. They have the opportunity to see all the wonderful social media trends and even some they haven’t seen come together to make a stunning day.

Putting that together with chatting with all of us [wedding vendors] and tasting all the yummy food and drinks really gives them a sense of confidence that if they choose any vendor in that room their day will be perfect and as stress-free as possible.

Our luxe, classic design for this wedding day included a lot of stunning floral arrangements. Kailey, owner and floral designer of Bare Roots LLC, created a lush floral centerpiece for the king’s table, a stunning bridal bouquet, two gorgeous freestanding pieces for the ceremony backdrop, and a bit of whimsy with a greenery installation intertwined on the staircase railing. She was excited to source specific blooms that are only available in early spring, making each arrangement unique to this March Open Venue Experience. Kailey incorporated white hellebores, white lilac (very limited season), snowberry, Pieris japonica, and sweet pea for a fresh, early spring design for this classic wedding.

I enjoyed the classical vibe and style we were looking to achieve and being in the springtime, I got to work with some of my favorite varieties of blooms and textures that I don’t typically get to use unless it’s an early spring wedding

And what’s a classic wedding without music? Our Open Venue Experiences always feature specialty entertainment, like the harpist, Maria Trevor, playing at this event. She played beautifully while our guests enjoyed a cocktail hour experience in the venue and she created the musical backdrop during our ceremony display. We also invited Nathan Stufflebean of Top Sound Mobile DJ to show our guests what a fun and engaging DJ looks like at an Emerson Fields wedding reception. You will love the music featured at one of our Open Venue Experiences and you might even find just the person you were looking for to play at your own wedding.

Desserts are always in hot demand at our Open Venue Experiences, and Cakes By Kristina did not disappoint with these modern and classic wedding cakes! These sophisticated, all-white cakes in varying heights and layers elevated the dessert display to a new level. Not to be missed are the intricate pearl details that complimented the modern spin on a classic wedding.

Whether you choose a three-tier, dotted-pearl, traditional wedding cake or a single-tier cake for just the couple, Kristina can create it all. The black cake pedestals made each of these white cakes POP and offered a luxe look to the modern wedding cake display. The sweeping fondant bow on the two-tier wedding cake was the perfect way to incorporate the large bow trend.

Being able to work with some of the best vendors in the industry is such a wonderful experience. Getting to put faces and voices with those vendors that you hear throughout the year and also to be able to combine all of our talents together makes for a truly unforgettable and beautiful day.

One way to capture details of the wedding day is through flat-lay photographs. These highly detailed photos are the perfect way to capture your wedding style! If you enjoy storytelling photography, you will want to hire someone like Trent Broglin Photography to tell your wedding style and story through photographs.

When styling flat lays, photographers like to add varying shapes, heights, and textures to give your photographs a unique, artistic look. For this modern and classic wedding, our creative vendor team styled the king’s table and champagne display with blackberry accents to add some fun texture and play off the black-and-white palette. Trent took this little detail and added the blackberries into some of his flat lays for a cohesive feel throughout the images. We love when photographers pick up on all the little details and Trent is a master at this! Get creative in your wedding design by incorporating fruit, flowers, antiques, or other personal touches, like your invitation suite. We loved the modern, black and white invitation suite created by Squared Wedding Press for this classic wedding style!

Emerson Fields’ Open Venue Experience truly hand-selects vendors that are passionate in their fields so it’s a great networking opportunity to see other vendors “do their thing” and expand our individual recommendations.

It’s always a great time collaborating with other vendors within the Open Venue Experience because there’s always a new set of vendors working together to create this inspiring vision for future brides to see and encourage them to think outside of the box for their wedding day.

At the Open Venue Experience, we invite all of our booked couples to attend so they can continue their wedding planning journey by meeting some of our favorite wedding vendors. We also invite any newly engaged couples or people looking for a potential wedding venue. Guests get to experience Emerson Fields as a true wedding venue! While we love to give tours to couples during the week, it is a completely different experience to step into Emerson Fields when it is fully decked out.

We use one of our five wedding ceremony sites and have our model couple display what that area would look like for your wedding. For this classic wedding, we went with our indoor ceremony location - the stage inside the venue. Kailey with Bare Roots LLC created stunning florals flanking the couple with creeping smilax, elegantus, and huckleberry foliage with pops of hardier flowers like classic roses and carnations.

At Emerson Fields, the ultimate compliment is when our couples glean inspiration from one of our Open Venue events and are able to incorporate it into their own wedding day in a unique way that reflects their personalities.

Everything we showcase at these events is attainable either in full concept or small details. The key is having a team of professionals that can execute the vision we have for the OVE! That also translates the same way for a couple on their wedding day wanting their team to bring the couples’ vision to life. The proof is in the pros!
— Amelia Holder, Owner of Emerson Fields Wedding Venue

Complimentary entree tastings and cocktails are crowd-pleasers at the Open Venue Experience as well. You can sample from some of our favorite professional caterers, saving you both time and money on setting up tasting appointments for your wedding menu! We also love to showcase how simple, yet creative your cocktails can be for a wedding reception or cocktail hour. Vertigo Events served up a special His and Hers cocktail with the Rum & Coke and Raspberry Spritzer.

This classic wedding reception welcomed guests with a bubbling champagne flute (Good Stuff China) on a modern drink display rented from D-Zines Weddings. A statement display like this is a fun and elegant way to welcome guests to your reception and immediately set the tone for the evening. Cakes by Kristina made her signature cake pops to welcome guests along with gorgeous dessert shooters displayed on her tiered dessert wall! Tiramisu, berry parfait, and classic cheesecake lined this modern black dessert display and allowed guests to choose whatever sweet treat they were craving.

If you’re even the slightest bit interested in any of the vendors at OVE, go! You’ll get the full effect of what they can do for your wedding day!

Couples walk away with a lot of inspiration, connections to wedding vendors, and information on creating their dream wedding. Our booked couples also benefit from these events by being able to walk through their wedding venue again before their wedding day. This is huge! Most of the time a couple may only ever see their venue once before the actual wedding day. Our Open Venue Experience gives our couples the chance to see in person how their tables can be set up, which ceremony site they want to choose, where they might want to do their first look together, and more. We have found that our couples become comfortable with Emerson Fields the more times they can be in the space before the wedding day. We want the wedding day to feel welcoming for our couples, like coming home to family!

Your wedding day can have a custom and cohesive design like this with the right team of experts guiding you along the way! It was a joy to partner with each of these wedding vendors to create our classic, modern styled wedding day for this Open Venue Experience. We always change the theme each time we host one of these events so that you never see the same exact design twice. This allows us to get creative and brings you an abundance of inspiration!
