Old Hollywood Wedding with Delicate Desserts | Editorial Styled Shoot at Emerson Fields

At Emerson Fields wedding venue, we dedicate ourselves to a limited number of 40 weddings per year. But we also get the pleasure of hosting styled and editorial shoots with talented photographers and wedding vendors! Styled shoots are the perfect way for wedding professionals to collaborate and get creative so couples planning a wedding, like you, can gather inspiration and ideas.

This regal and romantic editorial shoot featuring an Old Hollywood wedding day theme included a team of accomplished wedding pros that made magic at our wedding venue for a day. You will NOT want to miss each photograph from this gorgeous day with delicate desserts, intricate details, a show-stopping King’s table, and beautiful florals.

What is the purpose of creating an editorial styled shoot?

One of the best ways to generate new ideas and breathe creativity into the wedding space is by creating styled shoots. These photoshoots lead to wedding trends and allow your wedding professionals to think out of the box, try new ideas, and experiment with color, texture, or design. Editorial styled shoots are featured in magazines and publications. This all makes its way to YOU, the one planning a wedding so that you can gather up the ideas you love and create your own curated wedding style. We have hosted many styled shoots, editorial shoots, and workshops at Emerson Fields. We love seeing what a creative team of wedding professionals can dream up when they collaborate on an idea!

My favorite part of working on a styled shoot would be the fact that there are no creative boundaries and you have so much more time to capture different types of images! Rather than having to stick to some of the classic images you know every couple will need, you have the opportunity to experiment and show your perspective.

We reached out to some members of this wedding vendor team to hear their take on putting together this opulent Old Hollywood wedding day editorial.

Here’s what Terra, of Plan It Terra wedding planning in Columbia, Missouri, had to say about this Old Hollywood editorial shoot.

“The vision for this editorial gathered some of the most talented vendors from the Missouri wedding market. Inspired by the Opulence of Hollywood and the Lavishness of Royalty, this editorial highlighted the luxurious details and handcrafted designs of an indulgent lifestyle of the rich and famous.

The blending of Old Hollywood and Royal Lineage happened by looking at aristocratic architecture that had a gorgeous, crane-like motif etched into the molding. It was common for the royal families to have feathered friends on their property, and it was also common in Hollywood for ladies to adorn themselves in feathers, especially when we look to the 1920’s flapper era.

Each area of this styled editorial brought to the forefront this feather motif, whether you look towards the vintage, porcelain birds and birdcages from Pretty Little Things, the wispy details found on the hand-crafted desserts from Cakes by Kristina, or even the bird motifs carefully painted on the stationery. All of this is just a sampling of the talent included in this gallery.”

Old Hollywood Wedding full of luxury, glamour, and opulence.

It’s all in the wedding day details…

Linens, bouquets, vintage furniture, jewelry, escort cards, desserts, stationery, and shoes…each detail of this wedding editorial shoot came together to create a cohesive and refined style. Speaking of details, the deckled edge escort cards with handwritten calligraphy by Forget Not Paper were the perfect dainty detail.

This custom, handpainted seating chart was inspired by an heirloom family tree. Intricate and delicate details like this add a lot of personality to the wedding day. Each name card was hand-lettered and tied with the softest blush, pink ribbon. This seating chart would be a definite wow moment for your guests as they enter the reception space.

An elegant dessert lounge also, literally, set the stage for a romantic dining experience. Having a lounge space at your wedding always pleases guests. By making it functional with vintage sofas like these from Pretty Little Things, guests are more likely to sit and enjoy the space When you add delicate desserts, it’s an immediate win!

The alluring florals for the bridal bouquet, head table, lounge, and seating chart were all flawlessly crafted by Kailey, the talented and skilled floral designer, with Bare Roots LLC. These lush floral accents helped accomplish a luxe feel to this styled shoot and created a major impact on the Old Hollywood wedding style.

Artful florals can completely transform a space on your wedding day. They not only add pops of color and texture but they evoke feeling throughout your wedding and in the photographs. Wedding flowers, whether they are aisle arrangements, the bridal bouquet, or table centerpieces, will likely be in almost every image captured. Budget accordingly if you want to maximize your florals to achieve a lavish and opulent wedding day style!

I loved how much space there was around the venue itself to explore and play with. I’m always a fan of outdoor weddings and ceremonies because a natural backdrop can act as such an amazing blank canvas to build upon.

Old Hollywood King’s Table

One of the main focal points for this old Hollywood inspired styled shoot was the king’s table, an elegant and elaborately detailed take on the traditional wedding head table. The best way to elevate a wedding look is to add LAYERS. That is how you achieve an opulent look like this one.

Our vendor team created a rich and lavish display with floral arrangements in varying heights, white candlesticks, delicate desserts on glass cake stands, and luxe place settings. Good Stuff China hand-picked each glassware item and displayed them for a dramatic and luxurious effect. China always elevates a place setting and we love this sophisticated design. You will also notice elegant bird figurines placed throughout the table to continue that aristocratic detail in the king’s table design. The acrylic chairs from A1 Party and Event Rental were an excellent choice to really draw the eye to the tablescape without any barriers.

Old Hollywood Glam Hair and Jewelry

Marylyn, our beautiful bride model, showcased some exquisite jewelry pieces from Buchroeders of Columbia, MO. The Rings by Sara line of engagement rings were a statement piece in itself! The pear-shaped engagement ring with a round diamond eternity wedding band was the perfect combination. The lavish diamond jewelry lent itself to the royal and opulent style of old Hollywood glamour. If you haven’t shopped lately at Buchroeders in downtown Columbia, you need to stop in and see all the gorgeous diamonds and unique settings they have to offer.

The beauty team, Hair By Anna and Confident Beauti by Erica, created the perfect old Hollywood glam hair and makeup look with soft, face-framing curls, a smoky eye, and deep red lips. Later in the day, they created a second glam look with a regal updo for the bride’s second dress with feather details.

Here’s what Rachel Reyes, photographer and collaborator of this styled shoot, had to say about this Old Hollywood wedding style.

“This styled shoot brought glamour to a whimsical aesthetic! Our model brought so much glamour to the shoot with her striking beauty. The luxurious styling of the florals, desserts, and other details incorporated delicate, whimsical designs.

I loved how much space there was around the venue itself to explore and play with. I'm always a fan of outdoor weddings and ceremonies because a natural backdrop can act as such an amazing blank canvas to build upon.”

Delicate and Personalized Desserts

This Old Hollywood wedding focused on multiple delicate desserts from Cakes by Kristina. We needed to know EVERYTHING about these sweet treats so that you can add them to your dessert bar wish list. Kristina shared all of the dessert deets exclusively with us…

“This stunning three-tier Old Hollywood wedding cake masterpiece is adorned with edible blue foil details and intricate handcrafted floral and bird accents.  These Marie Antionette-inspired desserts are sure to impress. Featured here are handprinted pistachio macaroons, a white chocolate-covered strawberry topiary, pressed wildflower sugar cookies, and eclairs adorned with a monogram and stamped with chocolate, lemon blueberry pavlovas stuffed with Chantilly cream, lavender donuts, creampuffs, glass-dipped bing cherries and so much more.”

After all of these delicate desserts were photographed by Rachel Reyes, our gorgeous bride did a fabulous job showing off each unique detail of this shoot and our wedding venue. The last shot of the evening captured Marylyn taking off her heels, throwing them over her shoulder, and walking back into the venue; perfection!

Creating an Old Hollywood Wedding Day

How can you create a wedding day with intricate details and still stay on brand with your style? We asked Terra how she and her team work with a couple to achieve a glamourous wedding style like this.

“It's a multi-step process, to be honest. Depending on when and what planning experience a client books with us impacts how much of a hand we have in helping the client dream big and pull all of the pieces together to achieve a wedding style like this Opulent, Old Hollywood shoot.

If I were to break it down into four simple boxes, I would say 1) Having an honest conversation about the design budget (I always say that if you are NOT DIYing your decor or you are looking for an elevated look, plan on a minimum of $6,000 for design/floral/decor)  2) Assisting a client finetune and define their wedding day design vision (i.e. mood boards, questionnaires, etc.)

3) Connecting clients to the right vendors who can dream big with them and are very collaborative and with a reputable history 4) Have a team that can execute, which includes your planner and their team, the venue, and all of the creative partners so that you (the client) don't have to lift a finger - just a glass of champagne!”

This styled shoot incorporated floral play, glamour, and elegance with its handmade details. My absolute favorite piece of this styled shoot had to be the stunning floral parasol. The textures and colors were amazing and they instantly added such an editorial touch to the styled shoot.

I loved how every vendor poured so much passion into their individual contribution and that really showed in how beautiful each detail looked. Every element stood on its own two feet, whether it was the desserts, the invitation suite, the florals, the gown, etc. and they looked all the more beautiful when you mixed them together.
— Rachel Reyes Photography

We love how the theme carried throughout the entire day. From the porcelain birds on the table to the handpainted motif on the wedding cake and vintage furniture pieces, the opulent style couldn’t be missed! Setting a new trend alert, our bride had a wardrobe change to finish out the party in this gorgeous Old Hollywood wedding dress, complete with a feather boa. Taking a moment at the end of the evening to pose with your getaway vehicle is a must! Also, let’s give three cheers for that classic red lip from the glam team!

I would say that everything from this shoot is completely attainable and achievable. Nothing about what the vendor team created was fantasy; with the right budget, this vendor team could completely replicate this for a real wedding. Now, there are ways to take ideas from a styled editorial and make it more attainable for your wedding day and wedding day budget. You might not get all of the bells and whistles, but any talented vendor will ensure that your experience and the final product is just as beautiful and mesmerizing.
— Terra of Plan It Terra Wedding Planning & Design

You can achieve a cohesive, gorgeous wedding day style with a little creativity and the help of an incredible wedding vendor team. Emerson Fields Wedding Venue would love to be the blank canvas of your beautiful wedding day masterpiece as it was for this incredible shoot!
