Wedding Planning + Coordinating
Let them orchestrate all the details so you can enjoy your special day! Hiring a wedding coordinator early on keeps them in the loop and allows them to help guide some decisions. Whatever type of planner or coordinator you hire, it's imperative that you click with that person/team.
Meet with them in person and talk through some of the main elements of your wedding day together. You've got to have someone directing the event behind the scenes and you don't want your mom, his mom or your best friends to be burdened with all the details when they want to be celebrating with you.
Your wedding coordinator/planner will be crucial to making your wedding day sail along smoothly so you can enjoy a stress-free day and focus on your love.
REMINDER - at the very least you are required to have a day-of coordinator at Emerson Fields.
Florist
Flowers will be a major focal point on your wedding day. Book with a trusted florist that will help guide you in decision making and create a beautiful bouquet unique to you. An experienced florist can give you tips on choosing blooms that are in season and educate you on what flowers tolerate heat/cold better. The florist that you hire will have a great impact on the style of your wedding as well.
Photography
When it comes to your wedding day memories, do not take any chances on an inexperienced photographer, or even worse, an unreliable photographer. Contact any of these photographers and ask to see a FULL gallery (not just the highlights). Research them on social media but don’t base your decision on what you see. Set up a call with them and see if you connect. Your photographer is the person you will likely spend the most time with on your wedding day.
Videography
This will be something that can tell your love story in a seamless and beautiful way. Hire your videographer early in the planning process and you won’t be disappointed. Choose your top 2-3 videographers and then ask your photographer if they would be compatible! These two teams work hand in hand on the wedding day.
Rentals
Have a more sustainable wedding by renting décor and specialty items. Rentals are economically priced, and can usually be delivered to the venue, making your wedding day unique! Did you know you can rent things like table numbers, photo booths, tableware, flatware, glasses, napkins, tablecloths, specialty chairs, vintage furniture, and signage?
Catering
Because we offer an open catering policy, you have the freedom to choose your own professional caterer and menu. You can go with something more affordable like a buffet or step things up with a formal dinner party with passed hors d'oeuvres. Either way, it's a great idea to do a tasting with the caterers you like.
Cakes & Desserts
Bring ALL the cake and desserts! We have several cake bakers and sweet dessert options from professional vendors linked here. Schedule your tasting with them soon. Ask about any delivery fees because you don’t want to be in charge of getting your wedding cake to the venue.
DJ & Reception Entertainment
Hire a DJ (or entertainment) that will keep the party going. Your DJ is there to do MUCH more than just play music. Your DJ will serve as the emcee for the reception. He or she should create a fun atmosphere that reflects the two of you through and through. We also have recommendations on live musicians and reception entertainment!
Bartending Service
We operate without a Missouri Liquor License which allows you to customize your beverage options. We require bartenders (minimum of 2) to work and manage the bar the entire time that it is open. You may not serve alcohol to minors, no hard liquor can be served by itself (no shots), no kegs, and you cannot have a BYOB reception.
You can have an open bar, a cash bar, or a mixture of the two. Check with these professional vendors about what works best for your wedding day celebration.
Lodging and Transportation
Often we get asked about available lodging options near the venue. Emerson Fields may feel very private but we are just minutes from the small town of Macon. There are several options for excellent hotel and boutique lodging in Macon, including hotels and Airbnb. There are limousine, bus, and SUV rentals listed here to transport you and your guests to and from the venue!
